講座人介紹：

于磊博士于2021年入選南開大學(xué)“百名青年學(xué)科帶頭人培養(yǎng)計(jì)劃”，目前是南開大學(xué)統(tǒng)計(jì)與數(shù)據(jù)科學(xué)學(xué)院副教授、博士生導(dǎo)師。于磊博士在2015年從中國科學(xué)技術(shù)大學(xué)電子信息工程專業(yè)博士畢業(yè)，之后分別在中國科學(xué)技術(shù)大學(xué)、新加坡國立大學(xué)、以及美國加州大學(xué)伯克利分校做博士后研究。于磊博士目前的研究領(lǐng)域?yàn)樾畔⒄摗⒏怕收?、組合數(shù)學(xué)的交叉領(lǐng)域，具體包括測(cè)度集中、等周問題、泛函不等式等理論。目前在Probability Theory and Related Fields、IEEE Transactions on Information Theory等國際著名期刊上發(fā)表論文25篇。于2022年獲得中國電子學(xué)會(huì)信息論青年新星獎(jiǎng)，自2024年3月開始擔(dān)任信息論頂刊IEEE Transactions on Information Theory副主編。

講座內(nèi)容：

Give a joint probability measure, the noise stability problem is to estimate the joint probability of a pair of sets (A,B) given the marginal probabilities of A and B. In this talk, we will survey classic and recent advances on the noise stability problem, including several important conjectures, e.g., Mossel-O’Donnell conjecture (2005), Courtade-Kumar’s conjecture (2013), Ordentlich-Polyanskiy-Shayevitz's conjecture (2020), etc. We will also discuss the connection between the noise stability problem and a class of well-known functional inequalities---hypercontractive inequalities. This class of inequalities has found many applications in probability, combinatorics, computer science, and functional analysis.
