講座人介紹：

鄭榕教授在伊利諾伊大學(xué)香檳分校計(jì)算機(jī)科學(xué)系獲得博士學(xué)位，在清華大學(xué)電子工程系獲得碩士學(xué)位和學(xué)士學(xué)位。鄭榕教授現(xiàn)任加拿大麥克馬斯特大學(xué)（McMaster University）計(jì)算與軟件系教授、加拿大移動(dòng)計(jì)算研究主席（Tier 1）。鄭榕教授是加拿大自然科學(xué)與工程研究理事會(huì)（NSERC）資助的“老齡人口智能移動(dòng)”研究生培訓(xùn)項(xiàng)目主任。她的研究興趣包括移動(dòng)計(jì)算、數(shù)據(jù)分析和網(wǎng)絡(luò)系統(tǒng)。鄭榕教授于2019年獲得NSERC探索加速器獎(jiǎng)，2015-2018年擔(dān)任約瑟夫-葉杰出工程研究員，2006年獲得美國國家科學(xué)基金會(huì)CAREER獎(jiǎng)。鄭榕教授曾在《IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing》、《IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications》和《IEEE Transactions on Network Science and Engineering》等期刊擔(dān)任編委。她是MobiSys 2020和SenSys 2019的組織委員會(huì)成員，并擔(dān)任WASA'12、CPSCom'12、MobileHealth'14、CrowdSenSys'17、IEEE Smart IoT'20、SenSys 2021 的技術(shù)項(xiàng)目聯(lián)合主席，以及EUC'16的總聯(lián)合主席。鄭榕教授擔(dān)任多項(xiàng)網(wǎng)絡(luò)與移動(dòng)計(jì)算領(lǐng)域旗艦會(huì)議的技術(shù)程序委員會(huì)成員，包括 Mobicom、SenSys、INFOCOM、ICDCS、ICNP、RTSS、IPSN等。

講座內(nèi)容：

Human-centric sensing entails analyzing the physical and mental states of individuals using data captured by diverse sensors, with applications spanning augmented and virtual reality, smart homes, and smart manufacturing. In this presentation, I will delve into the decade-long research endeavours of the Wireless System Research group in this field. Specifically, I will elaborate on our efforts to characterize the "what," "where," and "how well" aspects of human activities through wearables and non-contact sensing, as well as the practical applications of these technologies in the context of aging-in-place. Lastly, I will briefly introduce a unique multi-institutional cross-disciplinary graduate training and research initiative focused on elderly mobility in Canada.
