講座人介紹：

Dirk KUTSCHER現(xiàn)任香港科技大學(xué)（廣州）助理教授，他曾是德國(guó)Emden/Leer應(yīng)用科技大學(xué)教授，也在華為德國(guó)研究中心引領(lǐng)IoT 網(wǎng)絡(luò)研究。他目前聯(lián)合主持兩個(gè)互聯(lián)網(wǎng)研究任務(wù)組，一個(gè)是以信息為中心的網(wǎng)絡(luò)，另一個(gè)為去中心化的互聯(lián)網(wǎng)基礎(chǔ)架構(gòu)。Dirk發(fā)布了諸多互聯(lián)網(wǎng)工程任務(wù)組請(qǐng)求意見稿，著作以及關(guān)于互聯(lián)網(wǎng)技術(shù)等研究報(bào)告。他博士畢業(yè)于Bremen大學(xué)。此前，Dirk是NEC歐洲實(shí)驗(yàn)室的網(wǎng)絡(luò)首席研究員，并曾在日本KDDI研發(fā)實(shí)驗(yàn)室擔(dān)任訪問研究員。

講座內(nèi)容：

Distributed Machine Learning, social AR/VR and other emerging applications raise thequestion of how networks can support distributed applications better. This talkdiscusses the potential and the challenges for "Computing in the Network" – anattempt to integrate computing and networking to create more elastic and resilientinfrastructure for applications. We review the state of the art for Computing in theNetwork and introduce a new research direction called "Compute-First Networking".
