孫文海，普渡大學(xué)計(jì)算機(jī)與信息技術(shù)系副教授，CERIAS成員。他的研究涵蓋了網(wǎng)絡(luò)安全各個(gè)方向，重點(diǎn)關(guān)注數(shù)據(jù)安全和隱私、分布式信任和基礎(chǔ)設(shè)施以及應(yīng)用密碼學(xué)。曾獲ACM ASIACCS杰出論文獎(jiǎng)，在網(wǎng)絡(luò)安全頂級(jí)會(huì)議和權(quán)威期刊上發(fā)表多篇論文，并幫助組織了若干知名的計(jì)算機(jī)/網(wǎng)絡(luò)安全國(guó)際會(huì)議，如IEEE INFOCOM、ACM WiSec、SecureComm等。

講座內(nèi)容：

What are the important considerations before kicking start your research? How to avoid running into unnecessary troubles and plan a more focused research agenda? In this talk, I will be sharing my experience and thoughts as both researcher and reviewer on some concerns that often frustrate young Ph.D. students and junior faculty, such as how to select a promising research direction, what is a valuable research problem, how to scaffold the structure of a paper and write it to meet the expectations of reviewers, etc. This talk aims to help researchers who just start their careers in cybersecurity and related fields in hopes of creating insightful discussions and providing needed guidance.
